Current and Proposed Transfers: 2027-29 Biennium

The Department of Natural Resources has found 30 Trust Land Transfer applications for the 2027-29 biennium to be in the best interests of its trust beneficiaries, and those applications are available here. DNR accepted public comments on the applications through April 15, 2026.

Applicants have completed their presentations to the Trust Land Transfer Advisory Committee. Recordings of those presentations are available in the "Meeting Recordings" folder here.

Presentation order:

Meeting 1, May 21: Maratta Creek, Cowlitz Indian Tribe; Badger County North, Benton County; Dabob Bay A, Dabob Bay B, Toutle Ridge Fen and Middle Fork Snoqualmie, DNR Natural Areas; South Makah, Makah Tribe. 

Meeting 2, May 27: Twisp A, Park Lake A, Park Lake B and Park Lake C, Confederated Colville Tribes; Duckabush River Valley, Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe; Tacoma Creek 40, Kalispel Tribe; City of Spokane, Thorpe; Kitsap County, Miller Bay.

Meeting 3, June 4: Little Baldy Mountain, Clark County; Sequim Bay, Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe; Babcock Bench, Warden Lake, Mud Springs Canyon, Big Beef Creek, and Running Springs Ranch, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Meeting 4, June 10: Jacob Miller, Jefferson County; Carey Creek, Issaquah Creek, and Patterson Creek, King County; Yakama Nation, Tract C; Whidbey Bluffs and Elger Bay, Island County; Shelton View, City of Bothell. 

Current and Proposed Transfers: 2025-27 Biennium

The Board of Natural Resources approved the ranked list of applications provided by the Trust Land Transfer Advisory Committee during its September 2024 meeting.

DNR asked the Legislature for $30 million in funding for the top eight parcels in the committee's rankings: 

  • Beckler 6, King County, Tulalip Tribes
  • Okanogan G, Okanogan County, Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation
  • Tract C East, Tract C North, and Tract C South, Yakima County, Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation
  • Babcock Bench, Grant County, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife
  • South Lake Ozette, Clallam County, Quileute Tribe
  • Middle Fork Snoqualmie, King County, DNR Natural Areas Program

The Legislature fully funded the Beckler 6, Okanogan G, and South Lake Ozette applications and partially funded the Tract C North application in the 2025-27 Capital Budget and Supplemental Capital Budget.  

Current Transfers: 2023-25 Biennium

In September 2022, DNR submitted a $25 million capital funding request for the transfer of 10 parcels of state trust lands. Click here to see a booklet about the proposed transfers and how they were selected.

DNR used money received from the Legislature during the 2023 legislative session to complete 10 proposed transfers: Eglon, Devils Lake, Upper Dry Gulch, Chapman Lake, West Tiger Mountain, Blakely Island, Rustlers Gulch, Moses Lake Dunes, Morning Star, and Lake Spokane Campground.

The Legislature also provided funding to complete the Stavis, Middle Fork Snoqualmie, and Trout Lake TLT proposals from DNR's Natural Areas Program; the Stavis transfer is complete, and the others are currently in progress.
