Water Typing
"Water typing" is the process DNR uses to identify whether a stream or body of water is used by fish, and whether those streams experience year-round or seasonal flow. The Forest Practices program uses water types to determine what kind of riparian buffers are necessary to protect habitat during forest practices activities.
