Youth Education Program Advisory Committee
The Youth Education and Outreach Advisory Committee provides the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) with strategic guidance and ongoing feedback on their youth education programs. Through this committee, DNR and WDFW hear from constituents and solicit feedback on how to improve program delivery to better serve Washington youth.
This committee advises both agencies to ensure youth educational programs are innovative, accessible, and inclusive to prepare Washington’s young people for a future where they are informed, engaged, and empowered stewards of the environment.
This body advises the Youth Education and Outreach Program Manager (DNR) and Conservation Education Coordinator (WDFW) on youth outreach and educational programming, including:
- Existing program offerings and gaps where state resources can be best utilized,
- Youth and educator needs and interests, and
- Best practices for partnering with schools, educational institutions, non-profits, and Tribes.
The committee consists of 15 members representing key partners and stakeholders in education and outdoor learning, two staff, and two ex officio members.
