WTA & BCH Volunteer Work Party - Olsen Creek Trail System

8:30 A.M. TO 3:30 P.M.

 
Volunteer with the Washington Trails Association (WTA) and Back Country Horsemen of Washington (BCHW) to improve recreation opportunities on DNR lands at Olsen Creek State Forest, a newly developed and sanctioned trail system for hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers. This work party's scope includes improving sections of existing trail as well as new trail construction and some realignments with off trail travel required. Activities could include digging new tread, tuning existing tread, building drainage structures, and constructing rock or timber structures to help prevent erosion.
 
What to Bring
Volunteers should bring water and lunch, and dress for working in the outdoors. Boots are recommended.

Directions
To get to the Olsen Creek Trailhead (NORTHBOUND), take I-5 to exit 254, Iowa St. Turn right (east) onto Iowa St., take a slight left onto Yew St., turn right on Alabama St, and the left on Northshore Dr. Take Northshore Dr for 4.6 miles and then take a slight left onto Y Rd. The DNR gate is 1.1 miles up Y Rd from the junction with Northshore Dr. The coordinates of the DNR gate are (48°45'49.9"N, 122°20'42.4"W). Please DO NOT block the yellow gate. 
 
To get to the Olsen Creek Trailhead (SOUTHBOUND), take I-5 to exit 254, Ohio St. Turn right (north) onto King St., turn right on Iowa St, take a slight left onto Yew St., turn right on Alabama St, and the left on Northshore Dr. Take Northshore Dr for 4.6 miles and then take a slight left onto Y Rd. The DNR gate is 1.1 miles up Y Rd from the junction with Northshore Dr. The coordinates of the DNR gate are (48°45'49.9"N, 122°20'42.4"W). Please DO NOT block the yellow gate.
