Board Manual Overview
The Forest Practices Board Manual is an advisory technical supplement to the forest practices rules, Title 222 WAC.
The Forest Practices Board adopts rules that set standards for forest practices such as timber harvest, pre-commercial thinning, road construction, fertilization, and forest chemical application. (See Forest Practices Rules and Forest Practices Rule Making Activity.)
The 1974 Forest Practices Act established the Forest Practices Board. The Board is an independent state agency chaired by the Commissioner of Public Lands or his designee. DNR provides staff support to the Board and implements and enforces the forest practices rules.
