CLEARWATER BOGS NAP

Features Protected: Forested sphagnum bog, low elevation sphagnum bog, and Alaska plantain
EcoregionNorthwest Coast  (Jefferson County)

Site Description
This 504-acre preserve protects two sphagnum bog ecosystems and sheltering forested drainages, as well as one state-listed sensitive plant species—Alaska plantain. These bogs support other unusual bog plants such as Oregon anemone and deer cabbage, and common bog plants which include bog-laurel, Labrador tea, spirea and heather. 

Science, Research and Monitoring
Public and private universities, other research institutions and individual researchers may contact DNR to propose a research project at the site. Environmental Education and Public Access
Currently no formal educational programs are available at Clearwater Bogs NAP. The site is not ADA accessible and facilities are not available. For more information, contact the DNR South Puget Sound Region natural areas manager.
